Who are the participants?
The work is carried out by the Office
of Bilingual Education, The
Education Alliance at Brown University, and the D&D Consultants
- faculty members from 12 major local universities.
Representatives from these 3 groups form an external support team for
each school, providing AR coaching, relevant research
literature, technical expertise related to the AR
questions, assistance assessing student progress and documenting the
AR process itself. They also assist in documenting
exemplary/promising practices.
Building principals, district superintendents, and district bilingual
coordinators actively support the Initiative by committing their interest,
time, and a variety of resources. Nine districts (and schools) participated
in 1998-99; 11 are participating in 1999-2000. (Click here for map
